IT Support/Systems Adminstrator @ Strong Suit

Job posted 2 months ago

Company: Strong Suit

Location: Evanston, IL

Description:

Computer Guru, Support Provider, Troubleshooter Extraordinaire, and Technical Liaison

In average terms, that would be an IT Support/Systems Administrator—but we are far from an average company, and we seek much more than the typical average employee. If you’re an energetic, talented, experienced IT problem solver, we want to invest in you.

We’re a well-funded startup company with a new approach to recruiting. We think differently and challenge the norms. Our seasoned founder and CEO is the former COO of a division of the executive search firm of Heidrick & Struggles. We have the experience and knowledge to rethink the recruiting industry, and we’re building the infrastructure to do exactly that—our first clients have already signed on.

Right now we’re two months old and six people strong; we expect to grow our staff to over 30 by the end of 2008. We want the best, the brightest, the most motivated future leaders to join us. With well-defined career paths at all levels, we offer you the opportunity to grow with us. We provide customized training programs across all parts of our business. If you want to develop your career, we’ll give you the training you need. Possible growth paths include general server administration and ownership of our mail and calendar systems and internal web tools as well as functional areas like security and firewall administration, application development, or IT operations management.

You bring to the table IT support experience. You have strong people skills and the ability to communicate; you understand how to help non-techies with technical problems. We’re a Mac shop, so proficiency with Macintosh computers, including Unix capabilities, is an absolute must. You also have significant Windows PC experience, since we’ll be running Parallels for some non-Mac applications. One-on-one assistance and troubleshooting will be a daily part of your responsibilities as you provide general systems support for all Mac and Windows PC issues (including off-hours phone support). Systems operating experience is a plus, specifically with servers, not just desktops and laptops. You’ll have access to cutting edge and robust technology to enable you to do your job efficiently and effectively.

Your troubleshooting expertise extends to all things technical, including office machines, security (key card access systems and cards), and phone systems. New employees will hit the ground running as you efficiently set them up with our state-of-the-art equipment, software and telephones.

While we are growing, this part-time position will require about 20 hours per week. The exact schedule can be flexible; you’ll be so vital to our operations, though, that we can’t go more than one business day in a row without you. Over the summer, we would consider expanding this position closer to full time. Pay will be comparable with market rates.

If you seek an interesting and challenging career path as part of a company that is:

• Inexorable: never gives up no matter the obstacles
• Fast-paced: working with a sense of urgency, thinking fast and working fast
• Process oriented: sticks with the program
• Metrics driven: measuring and tracking everything so we can learn how to be better and better
• Detail oriented: we sweat the small stuff
• Curious: thinks differently and challenges assumptions
• Transparent: hiding nothing from clients or colleagues
• Discreet: able to be trusted with sensitive information
• A hero to its clients: always delivering the highest level of customer service

then we want to meet you.
